Dr Darcy Allen is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Blockchain Innovation Hub at RMIT University, an Adjunct Fellow at the Institute of Public Affairs, an Academic Fellow of the Australian Taxpayers’ Alliance and a Research Affiliate of the University College London Centre for Blockchain Technologies.
He is an institutional economist focused on the economics of new technologies. Dr Allen has published in many academic journals, books and conferences including the International Journal of the Commons, New Perspectives on Political Economy, the Journal of Peer Production and The Review of Austrian Economics. He recently co-edited a book on Australian regulation, Australia’s Red Tape Crisis: The Causes and Costs of Over-regulation, and is currently writing two books on blockchain technology.
Dr Allen has engaged widely in public debate. He regularly appears as an expert witness before parliamentary inquiries on a range of topics, and his research has featured widely across the national and international print media and radio including in The Australian, the Australian Financial Review, the Herald Sun and the Sydney Morning Herald. He is a former editor of Australia’s longest running quarterly magazine on politics and culture, the IPA Review.
